- In the event that it is required to visit a doctor or a hospital in Greece, Australia does not currently have reciprocal healthcare or medicare agreements with Greece and therefore your Australian medicare card or private health insurance cover is not valid.
- Australia does have reciprocal healthcare agreements with the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Belgium, Finland, Malta, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Slovenia and a valid medicare card and Australian passport is required. - Tourists or foreigners can visit a private doctor or a pharmacist of their choice in Greece provided able to pay privately. The standard of healthcare in Greece is generally excellent and private travel insurance generally offers some kind of reimbursement for these services on returning to Australia.
